Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

September 13th, 20th, and 21st, 2014

To learn more for this year's training call Les Pierce at 541-821-0035 or Michele Brown-Riding at 541-846-1460.

The CERT program trains and educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area. CERTs train individuals in basic disaster response skills, such as flooding, fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the national CERT training platform, CERT members learn to help themselves, assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following a disaster event when professional responders (Police/Fire) are not immediately available to help.

Central Point CERT is an integral part of the local response and recovery plan for community-wide emergencies and disasters. We work at being prepared to help ourselves, our neighbors, and then our community. CERT trains also in Defensible Space Fire Protection, Structural triage, emergency bridge damage inspection, radiation hazards and so forth. Topics may also include flooding, wildfire, evacuation, earthquake, emergency shelters, and other local disaster activities.
