CITIZEN'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE SEEKS NEW MEMBER
Are you interested in learning about local governance and influencing City policies, programs and projects? The City is seeking to fill one (1) vacancy on the Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC). This group consists of seven (7) members that provide a forum for community engagement on a broad range of topics including land use/planning, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, traffic facilities, parks planning, etc.
The CAC meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in: January; April; July; and October.
You can attend in person (City Council Chambers located at 140 South 3rd Street) or virtually. Agendas are posted on the website seven (7) days in advance of the meeting. The CAC makes recommendations to the Planning Commission, Parks Commission and City Council on the type of matters mentioned above. To be most effective in carrying out its mission, the City needs to hear from the community. For this reason, CAC members are encouraged to engage with neighbors, personal networks, businesses, and others in the community to help spread the word about what is happening in the City and receive input. If this sounds like a position you are interested in, we would love to hear from you!
You can deliver applications to the City Recorder at City Hall. We will be reviewing the next round of applications on Monday, May 30th. If you are not interested but would like to be involved, you are invited to attend meetings in person or virtually.
The next CAC meeting will be on July 12th at 6:00 p.m. We will be talking about code amendments needed to address Federal rules concerning wireless communication facilities, as well as changes to residential land use and development standards that aim to increase housing choices and opportunity in the community. The code amendments are part of a larger project to review and update the City’s land development codes.
The application can be found below.
The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) was established in 1981. The CAC was established in order to effectuate the goal of the city's comprehensive plan relative to citizen involvement.
