Project Type:
Street
Project Status:
Planned

The City of Central Point, in collaboration with Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), has begun the process designing the West Pine Street Improvements project. ODOT surveyors have been out gathering data to be used by ODOT design engineers, to put together plans for the upcoming project. When ODOT has enough information to put out preliminary concept designs, the City plans to have an open house for public review and input.

The driving force behind this project is to give pedestrians, most importantly schoolchildren, and bike riders a safe place to walk and ride. This project will provide sidewalks and bike paths, along with designated school bus stops, in order that there be safe routes to and from school.

Project timing – ODOT engineers will begin design work after they have received all data necessary. We anticipate construction to begin late in 2025 into early 2026. Timing is wholly dependent on when ODOT engineers can complete their work. In the meantime, ODOT right-of-way agents will begin contacting affected properties, when they have enough design information, to go over needed easements and possibly right-of-way acquisition. At this time, the Public Works Director has modified the street cross-section to the point that we don’t anticipate any additional right-of-way needs.

This project is in its initial phase, with lots of options and nothing absolutely set in stone. We anticipate modifications and changes as the design work moves along.
