Guidelines for Addressing the Planning Commission
All Planning Commission meetings are open to the public and are recorded. Agendas are posted the week prior to the meeting.
To Speak on Items Not on the Agenda
Citizens who wish to address the Planning Commission regarding an item not on the agenda may do so during the Public Appearances section of the agenda. At this time the Planning Commission Chairperson will invite any citizen to speak on matters relevant to the Planning Commission but that is not specifically listed on the agenda. Comments must be limited to five (5) minutes.
To Speak During a Public Hearing
Public Hearings are your opportunity to tell the Planning Commission how you would like them to vote on a specific item. It is important to remember that the Commission must base land use and zoning decisions on criteria provided in the City's Development Code. After taking testimony and discussing the issues, the hearings officials base their decision on whether the proposal meets the criteria. A copy of the criteria is available before and at the hearing. Please do not contact the Planning Commission or City Council members about land use and zoning matters prior to the meeting--they cannot talk to the builder or neighbors outside the hearing.
If you have questions, contact Karin Skelton in the Community Development Department at (541) 664-3321, Ext. 292.
