The City of Central Point seeks to develop a pool of qualified applicants to create a hiring list for current and future anticipated ENTRY LEVEL POLICE OFFICER vacancies.
Individuals hired by the City of Central Point as an Entry Level Police Officer will receive a full salary and benefits while attending the 16 week Police Academy; and attend the Academy at no cost.
To be considered for the ENTRY LEVEL Police Officer you must meet the minimum qualifications of a Police Officer.
Required Minimum Qualifications of a Police Officer
To be considered for this position, you must:
- be 21 years of age at the time of appointment
- have, or be able to obtain, a valid Oregon driver's license at the time of appointment
- have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- be able to provide proof of legal eligibility to work in the USA
- possess or obtain US citizenship per OAR 259-008-0010
- not have any felony convictions or domestic violence convictions
- have an acceptable driving record
- be able to pass physical (including hearing and visual) and psychological examinations
- be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen
- be able to fully meet D.P.S.S.T. standard (OAR 259-008-0010) for employment as a law enforcement officer

Written Test, ORPAT, and Oral interviews will be held on a date yet to be determined. Those applicants that are selected for an opportunity to participate will be notified by phone or email.
Pay and benefits are negotiated and codified in a collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local 223.
Monthly Salary Range: $5,416 – $7,259
Annual Salary Range: $64,992 - $87,108
Additional pay: $150/mo. associate's degree; $300/mo. bachelor's degree; $450/mo. master's degree; 5% of base salary for bilingual English/Spanish or Sign Language; and 3.5% of base salary for DPSST Intermediate or 7% DPSST Advanced certification are available upon hire.
Benefits Package: Full family medical with $150 individual/$450 family deductible, dental, vision, and Rx insurance with the employee contributing $169.30 per month, City paid (HRA-VEBA) health reimbursement account of $145 per month, generous holiday, sick leave, and vacation, fully paid Oregon PERS retirement, life and long term disability insurance, fitness reimbursement, college tuition reimbursement program, employee assistance program; plus optional employee paid benefits: deferred compensation, medical/dependent care flexible spending account, Mercy Flights, and additional life insurance.
