Lieutenants
Lieutenants
Our Police Lieutenants work under the general direction of the Police Captain and have direct supervision over sworn and non-sworn personnel. They are responsible for ensuring the mission statement, organizational policies, and procedures are being supported and upheld. They are responsible for maintaining effective, open, and accurate communication up and down the chain of command within the organization. They provide leadership, ensure implementation of all department directives, and may be appointed to act in the capacity of Captain or Chief in their absence, as necessary.
Our Lieutenants have various duties to include coordination and maintenance of department training as well as the supervision of Criminal Investigations, School Resource Officers, Field Training, Reserve, Volunteer, and Explorer programs. The Lieutenants are also responsible for evaluating employees they supervise, conducting internal investigations of citizen complaints and allegations of employee misconduct. Lieutenants will make recommendations to the Police Captain and Police Chief on issues of discipline, hiring, promotion, and demotion of staff.
