Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)

D.A.R.E. was founded in 1983 in Los Angeles, CA and has proven so successful that it is now being implemented in 75 percent of our nation’s school districts and in more than 43 countries around the world.

D.A.R.E. is a police officer-led series of classroom lessons that teaches children from kindergarten through 12th grade how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives.

Our Central Point Police D.A.R.E. Officers currently teach at Central Point Elementary, Mae Richardson Elementary, and Jewett Elementary to the 5th grade students.

Each year our Central Point Police Department hosts a D.A.R.E. Show & Shine and Cruise which raises money for our program and its students. For more information on these events click here

Our D.A.R.E. Program could not be possible without the generous donations of our sponsors. If you want to become a D.A.R.E. sponsor, please call 541-664-5578 for more information.

Additional resources for drug abuse resistance education include Addicted.org's "Substance Use Prevention Education" which focuses on protecting children from the dangers of substances. Two websites they have compiled education on include a Parents Guide to Fentanyl and Protecting Children from Online Drug Dealers. Click the titles for more information.
