Community Christmas Tree Update
Following a consultation with Pacific Power, the large spruce tree on the west side of City Hall will be removed next week. Pacific Power has expressed significant safety concerns due to the tree's increasing lean, which has caused its top to encroach on the safety clearance for the energized power lines along 2nd Street. Pacific Power will oversee both the removal of the tree and the Christmas decorations.
Looking ahead, the City Council will need to decide whether to keep the community Christmas activities and parade at City Hall or relocate them to the new Community Center upon its completion in 2026. This decision will include a request for public input to ensure community preferences are considered.
In the meantime, Staff will be evaluating options for a temporary Christmas tree at City Hall to maintain the tradition during this transitional period.
