Following the September 2020 wildfire that devastated the Central Point section of the Bear Creek Greenway, the City of Central Point took over ownership of the 52 acres site. The city has implemented regular maintenance measures to minimize the risk of future fires and have increased police patrols to improve public safety. For the next step in the management process, the Central Point Parks Department has contracted with Scharen Design Studio to develop a master plan for the area.
Over the past fifteen months, we have been developied park design options and offered options for public comment through an online survey and an open house in October 2023. The final draft of the master plan has been available online for review through the planning process. The final master plan was presented to the Central Point Parks and Recreation Commission at a public meeting and to the Central Point City Council for final approval on Thursday, October 10. The City Council approved the plan at that meeting. Construction of the park will begin as funds become available.
