The City of Central Point in partnership with Lomakatsi Restoration Project will implement a rake and burn project on the city owned property located to the west of the Boes Subdivision. The specific project site will be on west side of the trail/road running through the property in the riparian area near Bear Creek. The purpose of this project is for experienced Lomakatsi work crews to remove woody debris from approximately 10 acres of the site to reduce danger of future wildfires and remove invasive plant species such as blackberries, hemlock, etc.
The Lomakatsi Restoration Project and Jackson County Fire District 3 crews are planning on burning 10 acres of wood debris piles on Wednesday, May 24th starting 8:00 a.m. The project site is located at 3000 Boes Avenue, Central Point. The burn will take place in the riparian area near Bear Creek. Both Lomakatsi and the Fire District will have both personnel and fire equipment on site for the project and will mop up and patrol the piles once the burn is complete.
If the Jackson County Ventilation Index (VI)* is inadequate or if fire danger risks (e.g.,high winds) increase, the pile burn will be rescheduled for another day. If you have any question, please contact Dave Jacob at 541-821-9450 or dave.jacob@centralpointoregon.gov.
