The City of Central Point utilizes a virtual desktop environment that allows for connectivity to your work computer from anywhere.
Our system will allow you to connect to the Windows computer you use on a daily basis. You will have the same access to all internal resources just as if you were sitting at your desk. The primary limitations are physical devices like desktop scanners, printers, or other peripheral devices. You are able to print to any internal city printer that you normally print to.
In the event you need to work remotely we have the following directions for you.
We support the following computer operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, Google Chrome OS (Chromebooks), Android tablets, Apple IOS tablets, and Linux.
- From your preferred personal computer or tablet open a web browser and go https://view.centralpointoregon.gov/.
- This window will give you two options. The preferred option is the "Install VMware Horizon Client".
- Select the "Install VMware Horizon Client" link. This will take you to a downloads page where you will download the VMware Horizon Client for Windows.
- Once downloaded simply double click the downloaded file and install the client.
- After installation, start the VMware Horizon Client.
- When prompted for the name of the Connection Server enter view.centralpointoregon.gov
- Double click on this Server.
- Enter your normal city username and password.
- Select your desktop computer.
- Your city Windows desktop computer should now be running on your home computer or tablet.
